ReStory Disassembly Guide — Screws, Parts and Safe Teardown

Use a repeatable ReStory teardown method across devices without inventing device-specific click orders that have not been captured on the current build.

Quick answer

ReStory’s official repair loop is physical: take a device apart, clean it, replace faulty parts and put it back together. A good disassembly workflow is therefore layered and reversible. Read the work order first, remove one layer at a time, track screws and small parts, rotate the device before assuming something is hidden, and keep enough visual context to reverse the order during reassembly. This page teaches that reusable method; exact screw counts and device-specific click order stay on individual device pages after they are captured from the current release build.

Read the work order first

Before removing anything, confirm what service the customer actually requested. Firmware, cleaning and physical component failures can produce different end states, and you do not want to confuse an unfinished service requirement with an incomplete teardown.

Remove one layer at a time

Treat the device as a stack. Finish the visible fasteners and removable parts on the current layer before forcing the next one. Rotate the device and inspect the back, sides and underside whenever a panel refuses to move.

Track screws and small parts

Use screenshots at each major layer. On this site, every device guide should record a “before removal” and “after removal” image so a reader can compare their state without relying on memory.

Do not confuse dirt with assembly state

Cleaning and disassembly are related but not identical tasks. A fully opened device can still require cleaning, and a visibly dirty device can still have fasteners blocking the next layer. Diagnose the current task instead of clicking everything on screen.

Reassembly is the reverse audit

During reassembly, verify that every removed functional part and fastener has a destination. If the order cannot complete, compare the device against the last clean disassembly screenshot before buying new tools or assuming a software bug.

Device-specific walkthroughs

The MYPOD page is the first device-specific page because release-week firmware recognition reports create a clear distinction between “physical repair complete” and “firmware step blocked.” More device walkthroughs should reuse this teardown structure rather than invent a new format each time.

FAQ

Why will a ReStory part not come off?

Re-check visible fasteners, rotate the device, and confirm the previous layer is fully removed before assuming a bug. Exact hidden-fastener locations belong on the device-specific page.

Should I follow a real-world teardown video?

It can provide context, but the in-game interaction order should be documented from ReStory itself because the game can simplify or reorder real hardware.
